Don't jump out of the slingshot!

Vision of the Slingshot

This morning as I was sitting with the Lord, He gave me a picture of a slingshot being stretched backward in preparation for shooting at a target. As I thought about this, I recognized we are like the rock in the slingshot. The stretching is uncomfortable and moves the rock in the opposite direction from the target.

Then I realized the stretching backward is actually moving the rock closer to the body of the shooter. The shooter must take aim with His eyes, and continue stretching the rock in the slingshot backward until just the right tension and direction is achieved. Too much power would destroy the fragile target. Too little power and the rock will not be effective. Aiming too high or too low will cause the rock to miss the target altogether. He must account for the imperfections in the rock. The irregularities, the rugged edges that could send it off course.

So He takes His time, and continues stretching, continues aiming with His perfect vision. Then He pauses. He takes a breath, double checking His aim. Then ziiiing!!!! The rock shoots with great speed and precision directly into the target - bullseye!!

The Consequences of Resistance

What if the rock resisted the stretching? What if it cried out, "I've had enough backward motion! I can get there faster myself!" If the rock jumped out of the slingshot and tried to run across the ground to the target, it would never make it.

Reasons for Inability to Reach the Target

  1. The rock doesn't have any legs.

  2. Once it fell into the grass, it could no longer see the target.

  3. It doesn't have any source of power on its own.

Encouragement in Times of Stretching

My friend, if life has been stretching you lately, if you have felt you are moving in the wrong direction, look around. Are you getting closer to Him? Is He taking aim with His eyes, preparing to launch you swiftly and powerfully in a straight line to His target?

Stay in the Slingshot

I want to encourage you not to jump out of the slingshot. You will never reach the goal without the aim of His eyes. You'll lose sight of the target as soon as you decide you're tired of the stretching and jump out of the slingshot. You'll never span the distance from where you are to where you are going without His power applied.

Embrace the Journey

Accept the stretching. Rest in His slingshot as He draws you closer to Him. Let His eyes take aim over you. Then, when He determines the timing is just right, let Him launch you straight into His target - His dreams - His goals - for you.

Trust in the Process

Remember, every moment of preparation is a step towards your destiny. Trust that each challenge you face is a part of His perfect plan, shaping you into who you are meant to be.

Soar into Your Purpose

And when you are finally released, soar with confidence and grace, knowing you are aligned with His will. Embrace the adventure that lies ahead, for it is filled with opportunities to fulfill your purpose and make a difference in the world.

Conclusion

In His timing, you will find yourself not just achieving your dreams, but also becoming a beacon of hope and inspiration to others. Embrace the journey, for it is uniquely yours, and trust that you are destined for greatness.
